Camiguin | Quick visit in Mantigue Island

In the northern part of Mindanao, an Island province near the Cagayan De Oro City named Camiguin. It is a volcanic Island with the active presence of volcano, Mt. Hibok Hibok and the seven stratovolcanoes next to it. Several spots sprouted with a connection to a volcanic eruption. The town is in almost existence when the lava flows down to the ocean including the church and cemetery which known "the Sunken Cemetery". Today, it became the roundish marks in several movie series and a flagship in boosting tourism in the province.

Camiguin is blessed not just in history but also in terms of Island beach, the Mantigue Island. Try to plunge into Mantigue Island's charm, and you will definitely fall to its calm and refreshing appeal. Mantigue Island is about four kilometers away from the coast of Camiguin; covering the four hectares of embellishing vegetation and shimmering white powdery coral sand.    Visit the whole Island by 2O minute walk and get engaged with the fisher folk’s activities.  Buy fresh catch from them in case you missed bringing your food pack. The great panoramic scenery awaits you on the other side, a perfect spot for snorkeling and diving.

The closest point to reach Mantigue Island is when the ferry docked at Benoni Port of Camiguin. But if you stay in the Hotel in Mambajao, the best option is to hire a motorcycle (more or less 30 minutes ride) to reach the San Roque Port in the town of Mahinog. From there, look for a boat for rent; P600  pesos (12$) charge for a roundtrip with a maximum of four hours stay in the Island. If you wish to stay longer, a P50 pesos (1$) per hour will be charged, but they will not allow you to stay overnight inside the island. For the underwater enthusiast, the best option is to first coordinate with their shop near Benoni Port.   

Book a flight from Cebu bound for Camiguin. From outside Cebu City, you may reach Camiguin through Laguindingan Airport (CGY), from (Luzon – Clark, NAIA); (Visayas – Cebu, Ilo Ilo, Bacolod); (Mindanao – Davao, Siargao, Zamboanga City). 

At the Laguinndingan Airport, Look for a Van terminal bound for Cagayan De Oro City, then, Get off to Agora Bus Terminal. From there, catch up a Bus bound for Butuan, Surigao City or Gingoog. Get off to Balingoan Bus Terminal, then, have a short walk to reach the Ferry Terminal. Grab a ferry ticket way to Benoni Port and wait for the boarding announcement. At Benoni Port, look for a motorcycle or jeepney to reach San Roque Port.
